Hi,
My name is Catherine Meyers, I’m the admin of a web blog directory, while reading your blog and it’s reviews and articles about MMOs, Rift, WoW, Lotro, I was wondering if you might be interested in a link exchange (no money involved), I would add your blog in my directory so my visitors will also visit your site and in exchange you add my website to your blogroll or links. Please let me know if you are interested and the best of luck with Do Not Try This At Home.
Cheers!

Thank you for your interest, Cathy. I do find your comment interesting, because it is obviously much better in quality than the average advertising robot letting me know how much it was inspired by my article and that I totally should visit its site and buy its product. You actually almost sound genuine. Of course, you also wrote this same genuine sounding text on roughly 113,000 other blogs as well.
It is also curious that you do provide a legit (or at least legit-looking) Gmail address, while failing to mention the address of your supposed web blog directory. Why would you not link back to your site? I can only imagine that it is to avoid being blocked by spam filters, as there is no other downside to including a link in your post, e.g. allowing me to look at what you’re offering me to become part of – unless, of course, such a web blog directory doesn’t exist.
Lastly, I wonder what benefit would come for me from being listed in a directory (even assuming it exists) that is aiming to comprise hundreds of thousands of entries from just about all subject areas imaginable, the probability of my visitors clicking on your link thus being much higher than the chance of one of your “visitors” ever clicking on mine. At least I think I can guess your business model – one of those annoying sites that basically throw your google search term back at you, along with some advertising.
And yes, I just took time to write an answer to a robot. Shame on me.
